Finding 'the jumper' for winter can be tricky. When I say 'the jumper', I mean a jumper to hibernate in from the first October chill and well in to late March, one that goes with everything and, crucially, won't be out of style by the end of the season. We've already fallen victim to M&S' impeccable cashmere jumper (that's still in stock), and now there's a new knitwear piece the fashion crowd is flocking to. The Cable Knit Jumper, a sublimely soft, merino wool and cashmere blend cable knit is the sartorial equivalent of a cosy blanket, but much more chic.

The standout feature of the Cable Knit Jumper has got to be its composition - a luxe mix of merino wool and cashmere. Merino wool is known for its insulating properties, when combined with buttery soft cashmere, creates a textile that feels both indulgent and functional. The M&S jumper is lightweight enough to avoid any bulk (or overheating on your morning commute), but substantial enough to keep the cold at bay, and feels much more expensive than it is.

This jumper from Autograph at M&S is one that will make you forget about all the others hiding in the back of your wardrobe. It's made from Merino wool-rich yarn and a dash of cashmere for a soft feel, and has a relaxed fit. Make sure to size up one or two sizes from your usual to give it that boxy, oversized fit.

When it comes to styling said jumper, its relaxed fit and classic cable knit means it goes with just about anything - and boasts a combination of timelessness and texture. The black jumper pairs with everything from tailored trousers to high-waisted denim, or even over a lace slip dress when layering. For the evening, style with a maxi skirt - either lace or mesh - knee-high boots and throw a classic trench over the top.

From the soft ribbed cuffs to the intricate cable knit pattern, this is a jumper that marries craftsmanship with practicality, as we've come to expect with M&S designs. Ultimately, it's an investment in comfort, style - and let's be real - sanity during the colder months.

Knitted with cosy wool and featuring a traditional yet stylish argyle pattern, shop the influencer favourite argyle jumper from M&S before it sells out.

For under £30 you can bag yourself a jumper made from air-spun yarn - ensuring it's one that's super comfortable, but also you can see yourself hibernating in too. Plus, the relaxed-fit jumper is available in two colours; acid yellow and cappuccino.

Another merino wool jumper to add to your collection - this one comes in a myriad of colours, from fuchsia to dark charcoal and has a crew neckline.
