Kate Middleton's latest look comprises of a seasonal power player - the polo neck - and an autumn essential that we've noticed is all over the shops this October. It is, drumroll please, the quilted gilet. And not just any quilted gilet, but Ganni's. That's right, Kate Middleton is officially part of the #gannigirls gang.
Middleton wore the sleeveless jacket to visit Glasgow's Alexandra Park Sports Hub, the first stop on her visit as part of COP26, and it brought to mind her grandmother-in-law's favourite off-duty outerwear. Instead of a silk scarf knotted underneath her chin, however, Middleton styled hers with black skinny jeans and her much-loved lace-up boots from See by Chloé.
BUY: Kate Middleton's Ganni Jacket
Ganni, Quilted Jacket, £255 at Selfridges
Ganni is a firm favourite with fashion editors - who like to show their appreciation on social media with the hashtag #gannigirls - and is still available to buy for £255. As well as being exceptionally seasonal for temperatures of 9°C, the jacket also fits the conference's sustainable brief: it's made from 100% recycled polyester.
The quilted gilet is also having a moment on the high street. H&M's onion-quilted version in light green is water-repellent and costs £19.99; M&S's feather and down style, with a snug funnel neck, is slightly more heavy-duty. Grab your polo neck and you're good to go.
