Holly Willoughby is the queen of day-appropriate dresses, and now she's set her sights on another key garment for the season ahead. Drumroll please – it's the spring coat.

Despite the weather being pretty miserable over the past week or so, Willoughby has been cracking out pastel-coloured outerwear, bringing some much-needed spring-is-almost-in-the-air optimism to her followers on Instagram. 'Hooray for @marksandspencer helping me treat my daily walk as a catwalk...So nice to be able to welcome in a new season with spring pastels...There’s a rainbow on the horizon,' she posted on Friday, wearing the brand's double-breasted coat in pale apple. It's almost sold out, with only size 24 still available online, while the oatmeal version, which the presenter also has hanging in her wardrobe, is down to just sizes 16 and 20.

But fear not because her outfit formula around said spring coat is very easy to follow with what you've already got in your wardrobe. All you need is a jumper in a similarly mood-lifting shade as your coat (Willoughby's was this textured square-neck knit in apple), a pair of high-waisted jeans that come cropped to the ankle, and your favourite trainers. It might not quite be a catwalk, but your daily walk will certainly look a lot brighter.
