Some handbags are household names, like Chanel's 2.55 or Dior's Saddle bag, to name but two of the world's most famous luxury styles. Some, however, quietly creep into our consciousness, becoming timeless classics before we know it. One such bag is the Coach Tabby, which has become a smash hit among celebrities and influencers alike. In fact, many online retailers struggle to keep the Tabby, in all its forms, in stock for very long. Today, however, Amazon is offering the delightfully squishy Coach Pillow Tabby for much less than usual in the Prime Day sale.
The Tabby actually dates back to an archive Coach bag silhouette from the 1970s, reimagined by Stuart Vevers, the brand's creative director, in 2019. Since then, it's amassed an enormous fan base, particularly among Gen Z, who regularly make TikTok videos to declare its brilliance. Available in various sizes, colours, fabrics and finishes, there are so many Tabby bags to choose from that you really could have one to match every outfit. The sorbet shades have been particularly popular on social media, while J.Lo, global brand ambassador for Coach, tends to favour the more classic styles, like the quilted black Tabby.
In New York City recently, Emily Ratajkowski was seen accessorising her slip skirt and crop top with Coach's Tabby in Burnished Amber and Elle Fanning, too, showed off her own Tabby on Instagram. One of the most popular styles, however, has been the Pillow Tabby, which is a puffed-up version of the OG bag, with proportions just on the right side of cartoonish.
So squishy you just want to reach out and give it a squeeze, it's this style in black which is on offer for Prime Day. And quite an offer it is, too; reduced by 35%, the bag has dropped from £425 to £275. Made of Nappa leather, it has a detachable handle and long strap, so you can carry it or wear it as a cross-body bag. It will go with everything you own, too, so the cost-per-wear is basically negligible.
