Charm bracelets are one of those things that have never really fallen out of style. The ultimate heirloom, their customisable nature means they often prove to be one of the most sentimental pieces of jewellery. You may have one that was passed down to you from a relative that you want to add charms to, or you may want to buy one fully formed. Either way, they have a timeless appeal and can look incredibly special without necessarily costing a fortune.
While they're perennial by nature, charm bracelets also happened to be prevalent on the autumn/winter 2020 catwalks in various forms. At Alexander McQueen, for example, they could be seen in the form of necklaces, complete with oversized heart charms. There were also charm bracelets used as the handles on clutch bags, which made for an interesting take on the traditional jewels.
At Dior, meanwhile, there were gold bracelets adorned with colourful miscellaneous charms.
In terms of shopping, there are plenty of styles to choose from, particularly as fashion's preoccupation with chunky chain jewellery provides the perfect crossover with anything charm-related.
There are bracelets you can buy already with their charms – Éliou's pearls are hard to resist, while Zara's hearts add the perfect finishing touch to any outfit and are just £12.99. But then there's the likes of Pandora and Monica Vinader, who encourage you to build your own bracelet over the years, adding charms as and when you see fit.
Of course, charm bracelets make for a lovely gift. But they can also just be something to buy yourself. Whether you choose dainty or chunky styles, they're certainly worth the investment – after all, they'll never go out of fashion.
