While the answer might seem pretty self-explanatory - you might assume they start on Boxing Day, 26 December - right? As the years have gone on, the Boxing Day sales have expanded to become less of a one day extravaganza. Nowadays, retailers usually have sales just before Christmas, starting on Christmas Eve, 24 December and staying live beyond Boxing Day.

Finding the best of the Boxing Day sales is all about timing and a little bit of insider savvy. Luckily, fashion writer Gemma Lavers is a little bit of a seasoned professional when it comes to deal hunting - especially as she's only just finishing reporting on Black Friday. 'I can tell you the best thing to do would be to bookmark any items you've had your eye on for a while, and return to them once the sales have started, but realistically, that probably isn't going to happen.
