I’ve Just Come Back From Norway, Where Everyone Was Wearing These Boots To Survive In The Snow

With snow forecast across the UK, these are the shoes you need in your wardrobe.

If the words 'snow day' fill your heart with joy, it appears you may be in luck as an icy weather warning has been issued across the UK. So, it's time to get prepared with plenty of blankets, a cosy coat, and, for those of us who need to drive on a regular basis, a great windscreen de-icer. Above all else, though, if a great pair of winter boots is missing from your wardrobe, now is the time to take action, and I'm confident I've found the perfect pair.

Of course, I'm talking about Moon Boots. Yes, the popular '00s snow shoe that was worn by all of our favourite celebrities (here's looking at you, Paris Hilton and Victoria Beckham) is much more than a throwback fashion find. Thanks to incredibly thick insulation, tread soles and water-repellent fabric, they're one of the most practical pairs of shoes to own in the snow – a statement I can claim first-hand as someone who just wore them on a trip to Norway, where it was -18 degrees (!).

Despite walking and snow-scootering (yes, that really is a thing) through inches of snow, my toes remained toasty and dry the whole time. Plus, they are incredibly comfortable, meaning the practical footwear was actually a joy to wear. And, to my surprise, they didn't mark once, meaning they still look good as new after ten days of stomping – no horrible white water line in sight.

As I opted for a neutral shade, they also worked with every outfit, from a great pair of jeans and basic black ski pants to a cream knitter jogging bottom. Although my exact pair, the Moon Boot Icon Shearling Snow Boots, are now almost sold out, there are plenty of other colours on offer.

I also wasn't the only one who had them on – all the cool girls in the Scandi city were wearing them, as are a number of chic famous faces at the moment. Dua Lipa uploaded a snap wearing the now sold-out GCDS x Moon Boot Icon Cow-Print Calf Hair boots, while Mariah Carey is known to be a fan of the classic white faux leather snow boots.

So, if a great pair of snow boots are missing from your wardrobe, you needn't look much further for the solution. The best part is, although the shape stays relatively the same, they come in a whole host of colours and heights, meaning you can find the perfect Moon Boot to suit your style. Just let me know if you need any further convincing.

Mariah Carey's Moon Boots are a classic for good reason, perfect for those after a clean and crisp snowshoe.

For a bright and bold pick, red is the shade of the season and these short boots will certainly liven up any look in an instant.

Not all Moon Boots are long in length. So, if you're only expecting a dusting of snow, a short style is all you need to keep your toes cosy.

To add interest to your all-black outfits, why not try this faux fur style? It's simple yet certainly makes a statement.

This silver shade is certainly striking, yet it will work with almost any colour scheme in your wardrobe.
