All hail the gold hoop, or chain, or bracelet, or anything gold really. Call me a magpie but I really don't think you can beat a good bit of gold jewellery to finish off an outfit. If, like me, you have a habit of losing things, paying over the odds is simply not an option.
From an everyday earring to a statement chunky chain, a dash of gold makes an ideal outfit partner. It just adds a little je ne sais quoi to an everyday jeans-and-t-shirt combo and completes your going out-out outfit.
If you’re after some gift inspo, you’d be hard pushed to find someone who wouldn’t love a little jewellery to add to their collection. It's an ideal present, in our opinion. And, don’t forget Galentines Day is mere days away now. So why not treat your loved one to a little bit of golden goodness?
Solid gold can be pretty pricey, so why not opt for something gold plated? If you want something longer lasting, then gold vermeil could be the way to go. For those interested, this is a technique where real gold is layered over sterling silver, much like gold plating, but this uses a much thicker layer.
Gold plated and vermeil jewellery is much less likely to tarnish or discolour over time. In other words, no green earlobes or fingers. It also means that you don’t necessarily have to take it all off in water. While wearing jewellery in the shower this isn’t wholly recommended, it does make things a lot less of a faff. Plus, in an era where hand washing is now more important than ever, this saves taking all your ring ‘n’ things off every time you get to a sink.
A personal favourite of mine is Monica Vinader, whose prices start at £40. These pieces will see you through any and all occasions. Another firm fave is jewellery brand Mejuri, worn by the likes of Bella Hadid, which offers up a pretty extensive impressive range from signet rings to statement hoop earrings.
The signature Croissant and Dome rings tend to sell out fast so be sure to snap them up before it’s too late. Next on my shopping list is the teeny 14k yellow gold mini hoops, ideal for ears with multiple piercings. Another great place to get itty bitty hoops is Nue Hoops, whose 18-karat gold vermeil hoops start at £20.
