It's summer 2024, and you're traipsing around Italy with a silk head scarf and a basket filled with fresh fruits, with a backdrop of Mediterranean tiled floors and vintage shops. There's a violinist playing Ti Amo in the background and you're about to gorge on the picnic of a lifetime, while reading a vintage Italian magazine. Your uniform? A fruit-patterned sun dress, of course.

Inspired by tomato girl summer, a trend fulled by Loewe's viral tomato moment which cemented fruit-inspired fashion as this summer's go-to, fruit dresses, tees and accessories have been making the rounds. Brands such as Damson Madder, Free People and Reformation have started releasing vintage-inspired fruity dresses (tomatoes, cherries, bananas, you name it) as a playful twist on the classic summer dress - and they're the perfect attire for your next summer getaway.

Celebs have, of course, already backed the fruity trend on their summer adventures. Emily Ratajkowski was recently seen in the best-selling Miaou Helga dress, £196 which features tomatoes and vintage lettering, Billie Eilish wore the now sold-out corset top version and Selena Gomez wore an equally fruity dress from Free People San Tropez Max, £268 to celebrate 4th July.

What does the fruit trend mean for you? It means ditching the monochrome in favour of bold, fruity, colour-drenched maxi, midi and mini dresses.

Emrata's exact Miaou dress is still available, complete with bold tomato prints and vintage lettering.

As worn by Selena, shop the Free People billowy smock dress while you still can.

Damson Madder is the place to be if you're in the market for bold, vintage-inspired, fruity dresses. The Calypso is particularly good, which features lemon and strawberry prints, as well as beaded straps.

With puff sleeves, a v-neckline and a vibrant cherry and banana print, this is the ultimate 'la dolce vita' dress.

A linen-blend makes this Farm Rio piece perfect for summer. It's already selling out, so be quick.

If you don't feel comfortable parting with your favourite colour in the world, shop Reformation's black crepe mini with colourful watermelons, limes and strawberries printed all over.

Another wonderful Italian-inspired dress featuring a square-neck and all-over stamp print.
