When it's comes to planning a heatwave wardrobe, my imagination tends to conjure up images of gloriously chic, wafty dresses, effortlessly polished tan sandals and minimal make-up. When the high temperatures hit, however, I am reduced to something entirely less chic, as I end up wearing my holiday cast-offs and slip-on shoes that fall off and give me blisters as I struggle to work. This is why I was casually perusing & Other Storiesearlier, willing every linen kaftan into my wardrobe (and more money into my bank account). The latter is possibly what compelled me to switch to the sale section of the site, only to find what can only be described as a treasure trove of easy, breezy dresses that could possibly even withstand 38 degrees.
Slips with shoulder ties, cheerful striped wraps, gingham linen midis and light, oversized smocks are all ready and waiting to change my heatwave life. Of course, a dress should be for life not just for hot weather (particularly as reports on fast fashion and its impact on the environment are impossible to ignore), so I'll be wearing my summer frock in the winter, too - layered under cosy knits and teamed with boots.
Perhaps I could still be that chic woman who's unruffled by the heat. All thanks to & Other Stories.
