Zara's Studio collection drops bi-annually and is typically a display of a more premium vision from the high street brand. Fabrics are more sumptuous, silhouettes slightly more fashion-forward and, given that everything is limited edition, it doesn't hang around for very long. This year's autumn range, however, could set a record even for Zara in the time this Studio collection takes to sell out given the brilliance of the pieces involved.
As always, prices are slightly elevated in comparison with Zara's mainline collections, but this still means that coats are under £200. And what coats they are this season, with the stand-out surely the wool, double-breasted coat with faux fur collar and matching hem. There's also a wonderful checked coat with a puff neckline, which on first glance looks as though it's walked straight off the runway. In actual fact, it's £179.
It's not just the coats, though. There are sequin party pieces, velvet dresses, intricate embroidery, excellent tailoring and soft knits.
Belts have super-sized buckles, gloves are opera-length and two-tone and there are even trompe l'oeil suede boots.
These are undoubtedly pieces that you'll keep in your wardrobe forever and which will look just as fresh next year as they do right now. In a statement, Zara said it used 'soft earth tones and antiqued metal details [to] suggest a vintage quality and nod to something precious, passed down through generations.'
The accompanying campaign has been shot, as always, by legendary photographer Steven Meisel, featuring some of the world's leading models including Precious Lee, Sasha Pivovarova, Raquel Zimmerman, Chiharu Okunugi and Amar Akway.
