When it comes to outlandish, no holds barred glamour, it's almost impossible not to think of Versace. The Italian fashion house is built on it – glamour oozes from its every pore. So, who better to design a capsule collection for Net-a-Porter, comprising only of clothes and accessories built for partying?
'This collection is a celebration of the Versace woman. Confidence, glamour and fun are in her DNA – she’s the life of the party,' says Donatella Versace – and she's not lying. Combining some of the bold prints seen in the Cruise 2020 collection, Gianni Versace's original handwritten signature is at the centre of these pieces, stamped on tailored blazers, cocktail dresses, handbags and sandals.
There are silver lamé dresses embellished with crystals, column gowns and tuxedo dresses, chain belts and the iconic Medusa emblem on leather bags.
Elizabeth von der Goltz, Global Buying Director at Net-a-Porter says: 'Versace has created the ultimate party capsule in the brand’s signature archive style. The exclusive collection is a definite highlight in our partywear edit, perfectly embodying the hedonistic spirit of the 90s, through the brand’s iconic heritage gold details, high shine metallics and inherent high-octane glamour.' Indeed, the 90s were a huge influence on fashion for SS20, with countless designers showing many reinterpretations of the decade's biggest trends.
Versace, in fact, brought back its infamous J-Lo dress, modelled on the catwalk by the superstar herself and making for one Instagram-breaking moment during Milan Fashion Week. Net-a-Porter will actually be stocking the exact dress next year (it can be yours for £6,600) but until then, you will have to make do with these glittering party pieces.
