Vera Wang may have started her career as a Vogue editor but, following 17 years at the magazine and a subsequent two year stint at Ralph Lauren, she left to start her own bridal brand at the age of 40. Since then, she has made wedding dresses for Victoria Beckham, Mariah Carey, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Avril Lavigne, Kim Kardashian (first time around), Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani(for her recent wedding to Blake Shelton) and Ariana Grande.
Wang has become one of the leading bridal designers but, with fairly eye-watering price tags accompanying most of her creations, it hasn't been an option for the majority to wear Vera Wang on their wedding day. Until now.
Vera Wang Bride has joined forces with Pronovias to create a collection of fairytale wedding dresses at an affordable price. These really are dream dresses in every sense, with huge sweeping skirts, intricate details and perfectly-fitting corsetry. It's not just ballgowns, however, there are also beautiful A-line dresses, mermaid cuts and frilled skirts.

'Pronovias is one most respected bridal companies in the world,' says Wang. 'They've built such an incredible infrastructure and in every sense they are global. I think we both felt that there was so many possibilities for us to work together. I feel very fortunate and so far the actual result has been extraordinary, even through a pandemic globally affected us.'
Wang sees this new partnership as a 'major shift in strategy' – one which she hopes will allow more people to experience the joy of her couture-approach to bridalwear. 'It's a modern sense of COUTURE, which has previously been for sadly too very few clients and VIP. Pronovias Group has enabled me to explore a new side of my creativity while growing what I believe will become an even more significant global brand at an intelligent price point.'

Prices start at £1,470, with the most expensive dress costing £3,150 – certainly still a major investment for any bride but, considering the mainline Vera Wang Bridal Collection starts at over £2,000 (with the luxe collection starting at just over £5,000), this is a significant saving.
There are 60 dresses in the first collection with all those signature Vera Wang details present. 'My intent was to make sure that certain Vera Wang design codes were identifiable in Vera Wang Bride,' Wang says. 'In 33 years, the most valuable lesson I've learned is that I know what girls always want. They always know in the end how they want to look and I applaud them for that. I love individuality, I love diversity and I love women who are fearless.'

These dresses are ideal for modern brides looking for that nod to tradition without compromising their own style. Available at Pronovias stores and selected boutiques across the world, it won't be a surprise if brides are queuing round the block to try these on. Says Wang: 'The most attractive thing to me is to be who we really are and, if there isn't a more important day to be that way than on your wedding day, I don't know what is.'
