Tony Awards 2016: The Best Red Carpet Looks

Last night, some of the biggest names in acting took to the red carpet at the Beacon Theatre in New York, to celebrate a year of achievements in American theatre.

Broadway's musical sensation Hamilton cleaned up on the night, amassing a grand total of 11 awards, including Best Musical, Best Performance by an Actor and Actress in a Musical and Best Choreography. Anyone else fancy booking tickets (and flights) right now?

Here are ten of our favourite looks from the night.

Lupita Nyong'o

Lupita dazzled in Jason Wu for Hugo Boss: speaking to US Vogue, the designer described the actress as his 'perfect muse,' adding: 'I was looking at these Tetris colors and [wanted to] create something bright and exciting and textural.'

Saoirse Ronan

Fast establishing herself as one to watch on stage, screen and in the fashion stakes, Saoirse opted for form-fitting Stella McCartney. Top marks.

Jourdan Dunn

She never looks less than flawless, and Jourdan's dusty pink Zac Posen gown is the prom dress of dreams.

Allison Williams

Allison typically opts for feminine, almost princessy styles on the red carpet, so this sleek white suit by DKNY is a real departure for the Girls star.

Lucy Liu

Pale yellow isn't exactly the simplest colour to pull off, but Lucy Liu makes light work of it in this embellished lemon gown by Zuhair Murad.

Cate Blanchett

Never one to play it safe on the red carpet, Cate Blanchett opted for black and white Louis Vuitton - a variation on a style worn by Alicia Vikander at the Met Gala earlier this year.

Claire Danes

Simple but effective: this navy blue slip dress by Narciso Rodriguez looks beautiful on Claire.

Joan Smalls

Supermodel Joan makes a convincing case for wearing bold prints on the red carpet in her V-neck Altuzarra gown.

Michelle Williams

Michelle looks like she's stepped straight out of Hollywood's Golden Age in white Louis Vuitton and a slick of bright red lipstick.

Sophie Okenedo

Sophie, who is currently starring in Arthur Miller's The Crucible on Broadway, nailed this season's off-the-shoulder trend in this eye-catching floral gown by Zac Posen.
