Come fashion week we’re frantic. Dashing from show to show, keeping up with the who’s who of the fashion sphere and cooling down with measly coconut water...

But this season, Tommy Hilfiger is mixing up the traditional notion of what fashion week means. Forget ‘Propercorn’, he’s bringing ice cream sandwiches, people.

Yes, in celebration of the designer’s Fall 2016 collaboration with Gigi Hadid, Hilfiger is transforming South Street Seaport into a carnival during New York Fashion Week.

It's not the first time Hilfiger has merged the boundaries between fashion and art, as he is renowned for creating mesmorising backdrops to his runways. Just look at his S/S'16 show which saw models walk sandy beaches or his A/W'14 show which involved the recreation of a football pitch.

The fun-filled fanfare is in celebration of the new, 'see now buy now' feature, as once the Tommy x Gigi Collection debuts on the runway, the line will be available to shop online worldwide direct from their site.

And with over 2,000 guests attending the grand event, it’s bound to be a sure fire hit. With hot dogs, doughnuts, pop-up shops and a sky-high ferris wheel, Hilfiger is undoubtedly turning the traditional runway show on its head. The funfair will remain open the following day too, enabling passers-by to soak in the churro-flavoured air.

The show is set to debut on September 9 and will be livestreamed on the designer’s website. So we can all partake in the carnival, albeit behind our computer screens, obligatory burger in hand.
