Fashion is wont to hyperbolise, that much is obvious. But to say that The Vampire’s Wife has become a cult brand in no time at all is nothing other than cold, hard fact. It started the way these things tend to do – an A-list crowd (this time consisting of Sienna Miller, Alexa Chung and Keira Knightley) popping up at their A-list events wearing the dresses in all their midi length, nipped-in waist and frilled hem glory. Given our collective predilection for midi dresses in all their forms, it was hardly a surprise that The Vampire’s Wife quickly became the hottest new name on editors’ lips.
The brainchild of Susie Cave, The Vampire’s Wife has managed to tap into a very specific zeitgeist, thus enjoying incredibly impressive levels of interest in the first five years of its existence. With retailers (and customers alike) practically knocking Cave’s door down, it’s no surprise that online behemoth Net-a-Porter approached Cave to make an exclusive collection of eight dresses.

There are Liberty prints, pink floral satin, a corduroy style in dazzling emerald and shimmering metallic dresses, all cut in Cave’s distinctive signature style. “The dresses flow with sensuality,” Cave said to Vogue. “I love to use silks for ease of movement, so the velvet corduroy is also lined in silk satin to be worn barefoot or with the highest heels.”
Launching today, the dresses are sure to sell very quickly, despite some fairly hefty price tags over £1,000. While they’re undoubtedly a big investment, The Vampire’s Wife’s creations really are the sort of pieces you will have in your wardrobe forever.
