If you're a millennial, you probably toyed with the idea of wearing a coin belt sometime around 2004. Why? Because Sienna Miller - that decade's boho icon - wore one to Glastonbury, that's why, do you need another reason? You probably also quickly realised that, because it's hard to wear a coin belt in everyday life and not look like an extra from Gladiator, that you would save it for the festival circuit (or, let's face it, just leave it to the experts).
That was then. Now, as in yesterday at an award ceremony in New York, Sienna put a 2023 spin on one of the defining accessories (if not the defining accessory) of her boho era. Wearing top-to-toe Alessandra Rich - a label she loves almost as much as the Princess of Wales - the actor stepped out wearing a spaghetti-strapped slip dress with a cascade of ruffles (very season three Carrie Bradshaw) and a diamanté belt around her hips.
A coin belt it was not, but everything else about the way said belt was styled (with an artfully dishevelled dress and slung low) was straight out of her style playbook circa 2004. We're here for it. Will it make you dig out yours and live like it's the early '00s? That's entirely up to you.
