Not content with being a singer, actress and the reigning Queen of Instagram (she's not only the platform's most-followed person; she's also responsible for eight out of ten of this year's most liked photos), Selena Gomez has just announced a new creative partnership: she's been named as the new face of New York fashion label, Coach.

Not only will Selena star in the brand's fall 2017 ad campaign, which will be revealed next year, she will also be working closely with Coach's creative director Stuart Vevers to create an exclusive piece (not a full collection). As part of her new role, too, she'll be partnering with the Coach Foundation's Step Up project, a US-based organization which is dedicated to the empowerment of teenage girls from under-resourced communities.

'I am so excited to work with Coach and love the clothes and accessories designed by Stuart Vevers,' Selena explained in a statement. 'I am especially looking forward to getting to know the Coach team as well as becoming involved in the Foundation's support of Step Up. On top of all that, collaborating on a piece with Stuart for next fall makes this beyond special to me.'

Creative director Stuart Vevers added, 'The woman I design for is authentic, honest and possesses a romantic charm mixed with a cool, confident attitude. Selena embodies all of these qualities perfectly -- but the fact that she has always loved Coach, and believed so strongly in our philanthropic mission, made her a true Coach Girl.' It certainly seems like the perfect fit - and you can read our recent interview with Stuart for more on his reinvention of the classic American label.

This morning, Selena shared her excitement about her latest project with her Instagram followers, posting an image posing with a Coach bag with the caption 'Being able to create is my favourite thing in the whole world. I'm so excited to be a part of the vision and family @coach AND I get the honour to design with @stuartvevers - ahhhhhhh.'

It's not the first time that the former Disney star has appeared as the face of a high profile fashion brand: earlier this year, she featured in Louis Vuitton's Series 5 campaign, which was shot by Bruce Weber.

In recent months, Selena has chosen to step back from the spotlight and put her career on hold while she focuses on dealing with depression and panic attacks; a side effect of the autoimmune disease Lupus.
