Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci has left the French fashion house after 12 years. It is thought that he departed the label on 31 January, at the end of his contract.

As a result of his exit, there will be no show during Paris Fashion Week next month, and the January couture collection was his last.

'The chapter Riccardo Tisci has written with the house of Givenchy over the last 12 years represents an incredible vision to sustain its continuous success, and I would like to warmly thank him for his core contribution to the house’s development,' said Bernard Arnault, LVMH chief executive officer and chairman.

'I have very special affection for the House of Givenchy and its beautiful teams,' Tisci added. 'I want to thank the LVMH group and Monsieur Bernard Arnault for giving me the platform to express my creativity over the years. I now wish to focus on my personal interests and passions.'

Tisci was credited with bringing a dark, sexy sensibility to Givenchy over the past decade and was known for his close friendships with Kim Kardashian and husband Kanye West, who were frequent presences at his fashion shows. He designed the dress worn by Kim on her wedding day and supported Kanye's forays into fashion design.

Meanwhile rumours are intensifying that the designer will now go to Versace. It wouldn't be such a surprising move considering how close the two are: Donatella Versace starred in Givenchy's autumn/winter 2015 campaign.

'Riccardo Tisci is extremely talented and, above all, my dear friend,' Donatella was quoted as saying at the time. 'We are family. I want to get rid of the old system, work together, support each other and make fashion a true global community.'

One thing's for certain: Saint West won't be making his front row debut at Givenchy this season.
