Most of us are still working from home, which means the tracksuits and leggings are very much our wardrobe cornerstones. But some women can’t style out loungewear for their 9-5. Take Queen Letizia of Spain, for example, who’s been out and about wearing all manner of sharp outfits as part of her royal duties.
For today's public appearance for Madrid's World Book Day, Queen Letizia wore a knitted dress from one of her favourite high street brands, Massimo Dutti. She paired peacock blue number with a longline cream coat, which she casually shoulder-robed, from Felipe Varela.
She also made a public appearance with her family yesterday, to inaugurate the submarine called Issac Peral, wearing a tailored dove grey dress and snake-print stiletto heels from Magrit. During the entire pandemic, Queen Letizia has shown the power of sartorial diplomacy, always choosing to mix high street with high end.
Last year, to meet with the board of directors for the Association Of Women In A Legal World, she chose a navy blouse tucked into a pale blue pencil skirt from BOSS. As always, she finished the look with pointed toe pumps and a face mask. The skirt was £199 from Hugo Boss and, like everything the Spanish Queen wears, sold out completely.
For a visit to BBVA Microfinanzas Foundation, a microfinance organisation, she chose a checked dress by Pedro del Hierro, a Spanish brand founded in 1974. She last wore the dress in 2018, proving that she’s another royal recycler, just like Kate Middleton. Another dress she's worn on multiple occasions? A pretty floral shirt dress from Massimo Dutti.
There was also a week in 2020 in which both Queen Letizia and Kate Middleton wore recycled pink trouser suits - Queen Letizia’s was from BOSS, Kate Middleton’s from M&S - and they’re also both fond of a high street hit. Another thing the have in common? A bouncy blow-dry.
