Nike And SKIMS Aren’t Just Launching A Collaboration – They’re Unveiling An Entirely New Brand

After rumours circulated of a potential collab between the brands, it turns out this partnership consists of something even bigger.

Whether or not you're a fan, it's become difficult to ignore the SKIMS brand. This isn't just because it was co-founded by a Kardashian (or, arguably, THE Kardashian – Kim), it's because it has managed to achieve the seemingly impossible for brands at the moment: create problem-solving, functional products that are still desirable, at a price which feels accessible without undermining the aspirational nature of the brand. No mean feat. Through clever marketing and a distinct visual identity, SKIMS has become hot property indeed – according to Lauren Sherman, a fashion journalist who writes regularly for Puck, SKIMS generated nearly $880 million in direct-to-consumer sales in 2024, up from $725 million in 2023. No wonder, then, that Nike is keen to harness such success.

It's clear that SKIMS has made high profile collaborations part of its business plan, partnering with Swarovski in 2023, as well as Dolce and Gabbana in November 2024 and The North Face just a month after that. The latter performed particularly well, with certain items – most notably the puffer jackets – selling out in minutes. There's no doubt that Nike will hope for similar results, although this is not just a collab we're talking about. Instead, the two companies are forming an entirely new brand, NikeSKIMS.

So, what do we know so far? Well, according to a press release, 'Nike and SKIMS are teaming up to disrupt the global fitness and activewear industry with the launch of NikeSKIMS, a new brand that will deliver industry leading innovation. The long-term partnership will introduce an extensive product line that invites more athletes and women into the world of sport and movement.' From the sounds of things, the products will be highly technical, able to be used by professional athletes (who were consulted for their insights) as well as the regular Nike/SKIMS customer. On Instagram, a collaborative post from the two brands read: 'A new brand coming this spring for the body obsessed. Designed to sculpt and engineered to perform.'

For her part, Kim Kardashian, who remains chief creative officer of SKIMS, released the following statement: 'Nike and SKIMS share a deep commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and pushing boundaries, driven by an unwavering belief in the power of women. This partnership is the culmination of that shared vision, delivering product that is meticulously designed to sculpt and perform for every body. Every single detail has been obsessed over and carefully considered. We're incredibly excited to unveil our first collection this spring.'

I think it's fair to say that the collection, which will reportedly span apparel, footwear and accessories, will be full of SKIMS' signature body-hugging silhouettes, an aesthetic obviously championed by Kardashian. As yet, however, only the new logo has been revealed, leaving us to imagine exactly what NikeSKIMS will look like when it launches. What the brand has promised is inclusivity, stating that it 'will make its premium-quality and style-forward designs available to all women through extended sizing.'

The debut collection will, according to NikeSKIMS, launch 'in the United States this spring, available online and in select retail locations, with a global rollout planned for 2026.' If you're based in the UK, then, you may have to wait until next year to get your hands on it. Watch this space.
