The Met Gala 2022: See All Of The Most Fabulous Red Carpet Looks At The ‘Fashion Oscars’

The most-anticipated night on fashion's calendar is finally happening - the Met Gala 2022. Restored to its original date in May, the gala's theme is 'gilded glamour' - with guests being asked, according to US Vogue, to 'embody the grandeur - and perhaps the dichotomy - of Gilded Age New York'. The exhibition, meanwhile, is the second instalment of last year's display and is called In America: An Anthology of Fashion.

Arriving on not just a red but a blue and white carpet, the attendees definitely didn't disappoint. Dame Anna Wintour wore a feathered cape and an actual tiara. Co-chair Blake Lively, meanwhile, performed a transformation, turning her burnished bronze gown with a gigantic bow around the waist - Atelier Versace, naturally - into an aqua-coloured train that pooled down the stairs (her crown was reportedly chosen to mirror the Statue of Liberty's, with seven sparkling crests).

Elsewhere, stars took the 'gilded' element quite literally, bedecking themselves in sequins, metallics, beads and feathers (Rachel Brosnahan, Amber Valetta, Jodie Turner-Smith and Carey Mulligan). Corsets also had a moment on Billie Eilish, Bella Hadid, Paloma Elsesser, Kerry Washington and Precious Lee, a nod, perhaps, to the fact that the theme drew on the time period between 1870 to 1890. Kim Kardashian didn't wear a corset but she did deliver one of the night's biggest 'wow' moments, proving those rumours right by wearingthatdress of Marilyn Monroe's.
