This year’s Met Gala was always going to be the biggest sartorial spectacle, with every attendee appearing to channel the avant-garde style of Comme des Garçons designer and honoree, Rei Kawakubo.

Because, if you can’t take a fashion risk on the Met red carpet, when can you folks? Pause for thought when we cast our minds back to this time last year – when it was all about futuristic femme, Zayn’s Robocop get-up and, er, Kanye’s eyeballs.

Fast-forward, and the accessories forecast is looking decidedly less sci-fi, more artful. The next big jewellery trend? Get ready for mismatched earrings! Yes, really.
