Taylor showed off her brand new look, Zayn Malik wore a Terminator metal sleeve and a post-Lemonade Beyoncé sent the rumour mill into overdrive by arriving without husband Jay-Z: this year's Met Gala wasn't short of talking points (fashion or otherwise), but the undisputed star of the event was Claire Danes and her fairytale light-up dress by Zac Posen.
The Homeland actress took to the red carpet in a strapless blue ballgown straight out of Disney's Cinderella, accompanied by the designer and her husband, Hugh Dancy. So far, so pretty - although we were left wondering exactly how such a typically princessy gown tied in with this year's Gala theme, 'Fashion in an Age of Technology'...
Until she got inside, that is. Because that's when this happened...
Yes, that is a light up dress you're seeing. Made of specially woven fibre optic organza, the bespoke dress handily conceals 30 small battery packs.
In a statement, Posen explained: 'I went through a sequence of stages throughout the process of draping this gown, playing with motion and structure to capture the emotional engineering. The gown is hollow underneath with no tulle - holding its own structure.'
Here's the dress in action...
Just look at that twirl... Hands down, it's the dress of dreams.
