If, like us, you spent most of the latter part of noughties in an oversized cardigan, we have some good news - the grandad cardigan is back!
Yep, like all good fashion trends of yesteryear, it was only time before this one made a welcome resurgance. Just like the going-out tops, micro bags and Juicy Couture tracksuits that came before, it seems we just can't get enough of the 2000s trends.

While cardigans have been making a slow and steady return over the last few seasons, the styles that have dominated on the catwalk have been the preppy and ladylike type (Miu Miu and Gucci in particular), but now it's time for the grandad cardigan to have its moment in the spotlight.
Alerting us to the trend was none other than Mary-Kate Olsen. The designer was spotted out and about in New York yesterday in an out-of-character outfit. Wearing a bright red shirt (MK always wears black) and white Dr Martens, Olsen even flashed a smile for the paparazzi. Very unusual behaviour indeed.
However what was more on brand for MK was her choice of cardigan. Mary-Kate and Ashley's aesthetic could be summed up as 'granny chic' and the pair have a real penchant for oversized pieces - if anyone was going to bring back this style it would be one of them.
A quick peruse of the new-in sections and it seems we're not the only ones lusting after a grandad cardi. Perfect for this in between weather, the cosy cardigan proves practicality and style are not mutually exclusive. Ideal for throwing over pretty much any outfit, it will look equally good with jeans and a slogan tee as it would with an A-line skirt and silk shirt.
