Kim Jones will soon be the busiest man in fashion - or at least one of a select few that has not one but two major design jobs listed on their CV. The designer, who is currently artistic director at Dior Men’s, has just been appointed the new artistic director of women’s ready-to-wear and haute couture at Fendi. It’s a position once held by Karl Lagerfeld, and a power move that will have Jones working across two of the biggest brands at LVMH.
In a statement, LVMH’s chairman and chief executive Bernard Arnault called Jones a ‘great talent’, saying, ‘He has continuously proven his ability to adapt to the codes and heritage of the LVMH houses, while revisiting them with great modernity and audacity.’
Jones, who was famously mentored by Alexander McQueen, is widely credited with helping popularise some of fashion's biggest trends, including streetwear as high fashion, which he helped kickstart through a collaboration with Supreme during his time as menswear creative director at Louis Vuitton. Meanwhile, at Dior, he further cemented the craze for logomania.
Fans have to wait until next year for the designer’s first collection for Fendi, but what might they expect? Certainly something thoughtful, and highly wantable, if his last collection, shown via a documentary film in July, is anything to go by. Collaborating with the Ghanaian painter Amoako Boafo, the clothes had a wonderfully bohemian quality, with bright polo necks worn beneath patterned shirts, and a pared-back palette of pastels mixed with tri-coloured cummerbunds. February can’t come soon enough.

1. Tights
The best thing about autumn clothes has got to be hosiery. Model your tights on Versace's, where they were crayon-bright and logoed, or Bora Aksu, where they had an almost bridal vibe.
