Kate Moss, the legendary 90s supermodel is getting a biopic - and it promises to offer a fascinating glimpse into her life beyond the runway. The film, Moss & Freud will centre around one of her most unexpected and intimate relationships: the one she shared with Lucian Freud, the celebrated British painter, and grandson of the famous psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud. Pregnant with her daughter Lila in the early 2000s, Kate Moss posed for a nude portrait by Freud. Despite his usual resistance to the ‘sheen of glamour’ of the celebrity world, Moss had long been an admirer of his work and this intrigued him. Bella, Freud’s fashion designer daughter, who’d worked with Moss before, set up the meeting.
The result was a piece that sold for £3.5 million at a Christie’s auction in 2005. Over the nine months it took Freud to complete the portrait, the two developed an unlikely and close bond, until Freud’s passing in 2011.

Their connection went beyond just art. Freud even tattooed two birds on Moss’s lower back, in an interview, she said, 'I mean, it’s an original Freud. I wonder how much a collector would pay for that? A few million?'

Who is playing Kate Moss?
Kate Moss has given her approval to Ellie Bamber, who will portray her on screen. Bamber is known for her roles in The Serpent, Willow, and Nocturnal Animals and, as for Lucian Freud, he will be played by Derek Jacobi, the talented BAFTA- and Emmy-winning actor best known for Gladiator, Cinderella, and Vicious.
How involved is Kate Moss in the film?
Moss is credited as am executive producer of the film, joined by James Lucas, the Oscar-winning director of The Phone Call and Whina. She said to Variety, 'As this is such a personal story of mine, it has been essential that I be involved with James in all aspects as the project has developed.'

What can we expect fashion wise from Moss & Freud?
Moss is reportedly contributing pieces from her personal wardrobe for the film and we've two already. Paparazzi photos from the set last June showed Ellie wearing a sequinned dress Moss famously donned on her 30th birthday in 2004. The dress, a vintage piece, was previously worn by model and actress Britt Ekland at the 1974 premiere of The Man with the Golden Gun. In the first glimpseof Moss & Freud, Bamber is also seen wearing a Union Jack-inspired outfit, which has been a staple in Kate Moss’s wardrobe since the 90s, originally designed for John Galliano’s Spring 1993 collection.
