Hands up if you have a peculiar fascination with seeing a) the inside of people's fridges and b) the engagement rings of celebrities? We can't help you with the first, but the latter is something that we've also been pondering since the news that a reunion might be on the cards between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. That's right, Bennifer 2.0.
The ring in question was from Harry Winston - the fine jeweller that she also wore to 2003's Oscars, a Bennifer moment if ever there was one - and is reported to have cost $2.5 million. Its stone is what really made it the Rolls-Royce of engagement rings, a 6.1-carat pink diamond. According to a video interview with Apple Music, Lopez was incredibly fond of the ring and, strangely, Affleck proposing led to an encounter with the legendary Barbra Streisand.
'I met her at an Oscar party, years ago, and I was at the time engaged to Ben Affleck, and she’s really into diamonds, which I didn’t know. He had given me a pink diamond, which got a lot of press and was whatever, the things that become news, sometimes you're like...I loved getting it, don’t get me wrong. So, she came up to me, and was like, she’s heard of it. I’m like, ‘Oh My God.’ And she’s like, ‘Can I see your ring?’'
Affleck popped the question with the pink diamond engagement ring in November 2002, two months after they had started filming their second film together, Jersey Girl, but of course, they never actually walked down the aisle. Lopez went on to marry Marc Anthony, while Affleck married and had three children with Jennifer Garner, but they always spoke highly of one another and their former relationship in interviews. Lopez, who until recently was engaged to Alex Rodriguez, once told People, 'Ok, this is it', about how she felt when she felt met Affleck, and said there was 'genuine love' between them.
Who knows, if the mini breaks continue, might she get another diamond from Harry Winston?
