As fashion month draws to a close, we caught up with stylist, brand consultant and fashion insider Gilda Ambrosio, a regular fixture on the front row at the hottest shows. During Milan Fashion Week, Gilda shared her insider secrets with Graziashop in an Instagram takeover, and now she's shared the formula to her signature style, her favourite beauty products and the key to the perfect Instagram post.
What is the inside of your wardrobe really like?
The inside of my home wardrobe is a mess, since I have only the latest things that have arrived, or my favourite go-to look. I had to rent a garage in my building where now I store my clothes by colours and its really well organised.
How do you take such beautiful Instagrams - do you take them on your phone? Use any editing apps?
I do, but it comes naturally, nothing over thought and I'm a huge fan of VSOCAM filters. I don't use any apps to correct imperfections, once I tried to but I went way to far and in the picture looked all blurred, like an old 70's photo!
What is on the top of your shopping list for Spring?
I'm still deeply madly in love with JW Anderson, so that will remain on my list this season.
What's the best thing about being an "It Girl/Influencer" and designer?
The thing is I'm basically only a designer but time-to-time I’ve been snapped running late to a show on the street, I don't do anything special to be a IT girl, so I think this is the best thing, since people appreciate me for what I am, not for what I pretend to be.
What makes a good OOTD backdrop?
My purple couch or a velvet tent, everything looks opulent!
What do you wear when you’re off duty that would never be on your Instagram?
I do really have no filters, I'm usually a Supreme girl, and I'll always be! Maybe I should use more concealer.
What are the style rules you live by?
Lately... never wear high heels during the day.
What’s the one main thing you don’t think your followers know about you?
That I'm from Naples and I'm really spontaneous, usually they come up like "Wow, you are so much fun! I didn't expect that... " thanks!
What has been your biggest pinch-me moment?
When I got invited to the Prada show for the first time (which has always been my biggest dream) and I had the presentation of ATTICO, my label, at the same time. More than pitch-me moment, it was a kill-me moment.
Have you had any embarrassing fashion moments over the years that you haven’t wanted to share?
No, but have done some silly stuff, like once I broke my arm during a photo shoot, I was wearing my new CHANEL boots and I feel off of the stairs. The photographer thought I was dead!
What's your beauty regime?
Water - moisturizing my face as much as possible and Elizabeth Arden lip balm!
What are your go-to beauty products?
Most of them are from La Prairie, but my biggest pusher is my Grandma, she imports cream from all over the world, I can't tell how old is she, but she still looks 65!
How much do you think about the Instagrams you post?
It's really spontaneous; if I think it's a good picture...then it comes!
Who do you like to follow on Instagram?
I really like to follow artsy Instagrams; other ‘it’ girls but most of all my friends, It's like being with them, I'm a real stalker.
What was your 2015 highlight?
I attended my very first couture shows. I accidentally shot my first campaign for a big fashion brand, and I started my very first collection. I should be satisfied.
What’s your favourite emoji?
I love the FIRE one. It's burning!
What are your go-to apps?
I only use whatsapp and VSCO cam. I'm not really comfortable with apps!
