If you’re French, there’s a chance you found Emily In Paris, Netflix’s syrupy show that’s laced with croissant-themed clichés, un peu aggravating. If not, you probably binge-watched the whole thing on the DL, basking in the baguettes and cobbled streets, and felt rather nostalgic about the last time you visited the city of lights. As the second season lands on Netflix tomorrow, we've started to think once more about the show's fashion and whether it will be, ahem, as divisive as the first - and the first look images did not disappoint.
'Finally, a first look at @emilyinparis Saison Deux!!! So excited to be sharing the screen with this incredible cast,' Collins wrote in a gushing social media post back in September.
Naturally, pattern clashes are back for Season 2 - alongside some familiar faces.
Patricia Field, the legendary costume designer of Sex And The City, was responsible for the wardrobe in the first season, and gave each outfit just as much flavour as Carrie’s. Emily’s outfits are a calculated mish-mash of colour and print, but shouldn’t be dismissed as totally un-chic and un-French. Don’t forget, Carrie wore some pretty out-there things in the earlier seasons. Who remembers the tie-dye pedal-pushers? What about the pin-stripe trousers that stretched up to her boobs with braces? And, my personal favourite, the time she wore a twig crown on her head and a polka dot belt around her naked waist? Emily’s get-ups aren’t looking so ‘eclectic’ now, are they?
Emily gets it right just as much as she gets it ‘wrong’, as some have suggested. In fact, last year she was personally responsible for a 2,900% increase in searches for 'houndstooth', according to shopping app LIKEtoKNOW.it. Scroll through our gallery to see some of her best looks...
