ICYMI, Anne Hathaway is back with a vengeance, making fashion hearts beat faster – not least due to the help of the designer Donatella Versace, who recently cast the actor as the face of the brand’s Versace Icons campaign.

Last night, the power duo manifested their icon-status, manfully facing fashion’s most important red carpet together, clad in head-to-toe Versace for the 2023 Met Gala. The 40-year-old actor wore a white, bustier dress made from white tweed, held together by the house’s iconic Medusa safety pins, striking a perfect balance between the night’s theme – Karl Lagerfeld’s body of work – and Versace’s signature brand codes. Her dressmaker, Donatella Versace, walked with her arm-in-arm, wearing a pink gown with a transparent top and beaded skirt.

But it wasn’t until Donatella’s social media post later that night that fans began to cheer. Captioning a picture of the two, the designer wrote, “Who better to share the red carpet with than the Versace Icon… Anne Hathaway. @annehathaway, you are legendary and I am in awe of your beauty tonight and always.” She then continues, “I think… Everybody wants this, Anne. Everybody wants to be us,” referencing Hathaway’s role as Andrea Sachs in the 2006 movie set in the fashion magazine world, The Devil Wears Prada.

Given the actor’s latest style evolution, we can’t help but to agree.
