Damian Hurley's hair threatened to overshadow the UK's political events this week. Well, perhaps only in my own brain, which says quite a lot about me. But he has a mane. I don't mean in the slightly gross, synonymic sense of the word, used freely by the tabloids, but in the actual sense of the word. It's captivating. The image in question is part of Pat McGrath's new campaign for her new foundation, Sublime Perfection, and it marks Hurley's modelling debut.

To attend the launch of the new range, he showed up wearing a suit in homage to his mother's famous Versace safety pin dress. He's just giving the people what they want!

Hurley's black suit was very plain, save for the gold, oversized safety pins decorating one side of his jacket, referencing the dress Liz Hurley wore to the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral in 1994.

Earlier in the year, she told Harper's Bazaar that the whole thing was a bit of an accident. 'I urgently needed to find a dress to wear for Hugh [Grant]’s premiere, and in those days I had no idea about fashion. I remember going to an office where they literally fished a dress out of a white plastic bag. I took it home and did my own hair and makeup, fighting Hugh for the mirror, which wasn’t even full-length, in our tiny one-bedroom flat. It was all very unglamorous compared to how things get done these days.'

At the time, Elizabeth Hurley was not a household name. But the Versace dress, she says, changed everything – within a year, she was the new face of Esteé Lauder. Will Versace do for Damian what it did for his mother? If it doesn't, then his hair just might.
