The Critics’ Choice Awards 2021 May Have Been Under-The-Radar But It Was Full Of Truly Brilliant Outfits

The Golden Globes earlier this month already set the bar pretty high for virtual red carpets, and the Critics' Choice Awards, the second major ceremony on the road to the Oscars, did not disappoint. Andra Day stole the show in a bustier drouser (that's trouser dress) by Prada, the mega-label that designed nine of her most dazzling costumes in The United States Vs Billie Holiday, while Emma Corrin, fashion's favourite darling, created one of the night's biggest 'moments' in the most marvellous little black dress by Schiaparelli Couture.

Zendaya's inflatable-looking skirt - a tangerine dream from Valentino Haute Couture - was another high point, ditto Cynthia Erivo in floral Vera Wang. The men, not wanting to be upstaged, also raised their game. Algee Smith wore candy floss pink Versace - accessorising with a giant diamanté starfish as you do - and John Boyega's Louis Vuitton two-piece said so much more than your average tuxedo.
