Remember the days of feeling embarrassed about your box-fresh trainers? The glow from the white, rubber soles of a pair of Converse, in particular, was strong enough to leave your teenage self feeling fairly mortified and forced to roll around in the mud until your shoes looked suitably 'worn'. Well, one no longer needs to resort to such drastic measures because Converse has decided to do the hard work for us. That's right, the brand is selling 'dirty' trainers for your pleasure.

Strictly speaking, Converse is not selling these shoes as 'dirty'. The phrase being employed here is 'aged makeover'. 'Skip the break-in period,' the brand urges us all. 'A dirty wash treatment gives these classic Chucks a vintage look, straight out of the box.'
At first glance, you may be slightly surprised that this is now A Thing. But you'd do well to remember that this is, in fact, 2020 – a year so bafflingly awful that we've reached a point where Kanye West is running for President of the USA, the current President of the USA has only recently stopped referring to Covid-19 as a 'hoax' and you can now buy dirty shoes for the best part of £100.
In fact, Converse has different styles of these 'aged makeover' shoes on offer, including the classic High Tops for £90. What a time to be alive.
