Is it just us, or is everyone dressing like Marie Antoinette at the moment? Whether it's a renaissance neckline, zipped-in bodice or some statement volume sleeves, everyone seems to be drawing their wardrobe inspiration from Keira Knightley in The Duchess. Even as we traverse into the windier, wetter months (arguably not the best time to be out and about in a rib-skimming corseted top), our love for some 18th-century-France shows no sign of slowing down - with the most hallowed of Instagram feeds sporting ruffled cuffs and boned bodices.

It seems Bella Hadid is on board with the trend, too. Our obsession with everything Baroque - sartorially speaking - was bought to a climax when she walked the catwalk yesterday, in an 18th-century creation by Vivienne Westwood.

The capacious wedding gown was accessorised with a huge white parasol, statement gold-disk earrings and her hair, achieved by Sam McKnight, echoed the decadent theme of the ensemble with a slicked-back top and two delicate rolls either side of her head.

'There’s a little touch of 18th century with the rolls on the side of the hair on top of a very simple ponytail', McKnight said as he crafted the hairstyle, adding that with the other models he'd aimed to achieve something similar. 'Some girls have two or three rolls, some have four, it depends on the girl and the amount of hair they have.'

Despite recently breaking up with The Weeknd, Bella made it clear she's thinking ahead to future relationships, by revealing that she's picked up some wedding inspiration from modelling the design. Speaking about the dress in an interview filmed backstage, the 22-year-old model said 'I always said I would have to get Vivienne Westwood to make my wedding gown and, we're here!'

She also confessed that she's just as partial to some over-the-top renaissance dressing at the moment as we are, adding 'Vivienne has been one of my idols for a very, very long time. I get to wear the most beautiful wedding gown and I think this may actually have to be my real wedding gown.' We're taking this as scientific proof that walking down the catwalk in a fluffy white dress by Vivian Westwood is the balm to any break-up.

It's been an astonishingly busy Paris Fashion Week for Bella - who in addition to closing the Vivienne Westwood show has walked for Fendi, Lanvin, Missoni and Mugler in a sheer body stocking.

As PFW SS2020 draws to a close, We predict she's going to be turning on her OOO and taking a well-earned holiday. And in the meantime, we can only thank Vivienne Westwood for the numbers of people who are be planning their Marie-Antoinette themed weddings on Pinterest as we speak - including us.
