Is it just me or does pretty much everything you buy online look totally different on your body than on the website’s model? This isn’t just dispiriting but it’s a complete time-waster (you’re never going to get back those precious minutes spent waiting in post office queues, you know?) and all that toing-and-froing is pushing up the carbon footprint of every purchase. Thankfully, brands are starting to address the first stage of this problem.
ASOS recently announced its See My Fit initiative, a tool made in collaboration with Israeli AR company Zeekit, that allows you to see what a dress looks on a range of sizes. It’s not yet available website-wide, but on certain ASOS DESIGN dresses you now have a ‘Models’ tab, which you can click and see your chosen style on sizes from UK4 to UK18 and heights from 5’1” to 5’11”. The See My Fit technology works by digitally mapping the product on each model by taking size, cut and fit into consideration.
ASOS isn’t the only brand working on its visuals. Perfect Dress Company, which concentrates on dresses well-cut dresses in wearable block colours, allows customers to shop by size and uses real models for each. Here’s hoping other brands take note.
