Last year, Kim Kardashian wore a dress that was made for Marilyn Monroe - a moment that almost broke the internet at the Met Gala. Yesterday, she bought a necklace that was worn on multiple occasions by Princess Diana. Clearly, the woman wants a piece of fashion history.

According to The Guardian, the necklace in question - the so-called Attallah Cross - sold for £163,800 after a four-way bid in the last five minutes at an auction held by Sotheby’s.

The cross, made from distinctive amethysts and diamonds by royal jeweller Garrard, was acquired by Naim Attallah, the businessman and writer who passed away in 2021, in the 1980s. It was him who lent it to his friend, Princess Diana, on several occasions, most famously at a charity gala in 1987. Wearing the pie-crust collar that was to become one of her most enduring style signatures, her black-and-plum gown matched the cross’ purple stones to perfection.

Kim Kardashian is also the owner of a hat that used to belong to Michael Jackson - the cream fedora he wore in Smooth Criminal - so this necklace is the latest acquisition to join quite the archive. Will she wear it? Will she give it to North? Stay tuned.
