If you thought Charli XCX couldn't possibly turn her hand to anything else and get a sold-out, stellar response, then you're sadly mistaken. Fresh off the success of her culture-defining album Brat, which spawned an entire summer of trends and a new wave of chaotic partygirl that even Paris Hilton couldn't compete with, Charli XCX is now turning her talents to fashion – and no, I'm not referring to her Vivienne Westwood wedding dress. I'm referring to the newest fashion collab on the block, Converse X Charli XCX By You. It's a limited-edition, highly personal collection that merges her aesthetic with one of the most iconic shoes in history, the Chuck Taylor All Star. And no, the shoes aren't Brat green.

Shot by Petra Collins, the campaign is gritty, gorgeous and drenched in that Y2K-meets-rave-girl energy XCX wears better than most of us. Launching today, 5th August, the collection is completely customisable, with plenty of colours to choose from. The upper colourways, of course, include the classic black and white, as well as a couple of muted shades, such as pale blue flower and dusty brown. These aren't your crisp white box-fresh trainers, either. Printed rips, discolouration and washed laces give the shoes that worn-in look, just like Charli's own beat-up pairs. Look closer and you'll spot Brat-themed touches throughout, including lyrical references (just in case you've always wanted your shoes to say partygirl or XCX on them), heel tab charms and outsole graphics.

Arguably, the magic in a pair of Converse is down to how you choose to style them. For the daytime, style the Chuck Taylor All Stars the XCX way with a pair of low-rise denim jeans or shorts, a baby tee and wraparound sunglasses. Or, for an outfit that's less Avril-Lavigne-in-Sk8ter-Boi and more cool-Londoner, pair with wide-leg striped trousers and a statement jacket, or with a mini dress and tote bag.

The obvious choice, and the one that Charlie XCX is spotted wearing is, of course, the black ink colourway. With distressed prints, two outsole graphics to choose from and lock and key charms attached to the heel, finish the look with a pair of cut-off shorts and a baby tee.

Most of us have already worn our old-school pair of Chuck Taylors to the ground. I know my own pair have survived Worthy Farm, many, many nights out and a whole degree at university, and yet somehow, the more battered the trainers looked, the more comfortable they felt. In this new collection with Charli XCX, torn details, washed-out laces and a faded canvas come pre-designed, meaning you don't have to put in the miles (or take them to a Charli XCX concert) to make them look lived-in.

But, there's a catch. The Converse X Charli XCX Be You collaboration is only around for three days – that means you've only got until Friday, 8th August to shop, and after that, the iconic shoes will just become yet another relic of XCX pop culture history. Shop the customisable styles below.
