The stars of The Crown descended on London last night for the world premiere of season three.Olivia Colman{ =nofollow}, who plays Queen Elizabeth in the series, wore a black dress with flowing sleeve details, as she posed with her co-star Tobias Menzies (in a natty three-piece suit), who plays Prince Philip in the next instalment.

Obviously, Helena Bonham Carter – who plays Princess Margaret – picked a quirkier option, opting for a Ryan Lo black lace maxi dress, which was embellished with feathers on the skirt. Meanwhile, Gillian Anderson, who will play Margaret Thatcher in season four, went for a navy velvet dress and a matching cape, which she accessorised with a scarf. Erin Doherty, who plays Princess Anne, wore a red bodice dress, with a mesh skirt. See all of the red carpet looks below.

Bonham Carter had recently told how Princess Margaret was typically (and hilariously) rude when they met. Speaking to Harper's Bazaar, she described how ‘typical’ Margaret gave her a backhanded compliment. ‘Margaret was on her own with a drink in her hand and she talked to me,’ she added. ‘She said, “Oh, Helena, you are getting better, aren’t you, at acting.” Typical Margaret!'
