Every Look From What Is Arguably The Best Met Gala Red Carpet Of All Time

While the Met Gala themes have not always been entirely well received, 2019's Camp: Notes on Fashion proved to be a joyous affair that saw Lady Gaga perform no less than three costume changes live on the pink carpet, Billy Porter be carried in by six shirtless men and Céline Dion declare that she assumed everyone would be camping outside the Met. Yes, she really said that. But the clothes were an absolute riot.

Based on Susan Sontag's 1964 essay Notes on Camp, the theme invited big, bold and brash. And, thankfully, the majority of the guests this year played it anything but safe.

Gaga, one of this year's hosts, was one of the first to arrive – and she really set the tone for the evening. While she wore a selection of outfits designed by Brandon Maxwell, Billy Porter made quite the spectacular entrance of his own in an ensemble by The Blonds. Meanwhile, Serena Williams – also a Met Gala host for 2019 – looked incredible in a neon Versace gown that gave new meaning to the phrase 'power shoulder'. She paired her couture with trainers, of course, making us all rethink our formal footwear.

Céline Dion dazzled in Oscar de la Renta, admitting in an interview that she was confused by the theme at first, wondering if camp required her to bring her own tent to the Met. Harry Styles arrived with fellow host (and creative director of Gucci) Alessandro Michele. Styles wore a semi-sheer black shirt and single pearl earring – naturally all by Gucci, for which he is an ambassador.
