Unless you've started 2025 with a digital detox, you're sure to have heard of the latest celebrity engagement: Zendaya and Tom Holland. And, yes, the rumours are true: the Spiderman co-stars are betrothed, giving fans great cause to celebrate. However, there was no big social media announcement, as the actors keep their private lives behind closed doors. So, it took some eagle-eyes to start asking questions for the proposal to be revealed.
Stepping onto the Golden Globes 2025 red carpet on Sunday, the 5th of January, Zendaya wore a burnt orange satin dress by Louis Vuitton and a stunning Bulgari diamond necklace. Yet, most notably, on her ring finger sat a five-carat Jessica McCormack engagement ring, sparking the engagement rumours.
The giveaway ring is described as 'a button back ring with a 5.02ct east-west cushion diamond, set in a Georgian style cut-down setting in 18k white gold and yellow gold' on the British jewellery designer's website. This lends it a minimalist yet striking design where the diamond takes centre stage on the sleek gold band.
British fine jewellery designer Isabella Hewitt says, 'the ring itself is a fascinating study in contrasts. Its east-west setting, with a 5.02-carat cushion diamond resting horizontally, feels like a quiet rebellion against traditional engagement ring designs – something we are seeing growing enquiries for with our own bespoke requests for 2025'.
'The stone has been gently tilted, offering a new perspective on a familiar form – much like how Zendaya herself reinterprets classic Hollywood glamour for a contemporary audience,' she adds. Plus, 'there's also a lovely symbolism in this orientation, too. The landscape placement evokes the image of two people standing side by side, facing the world together. It's a subtle nod to partnership.'
Although the precise price is still unknown and listed as 'price on request', jewellery experts are expecting it to cost between £160,000 and £200,000, particularly as it has a VS1 clarity, meaning it is of great quality with any small imperfections only visible with a magnifying glass.
Other famous faces rumoured to be fans of the jewellery brand include: Victoria Beckham, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, and Zoë Kravitz, so Zendaya is certainly in good company. Now, we just have to wait for the wedding.
