New pictures of the Winter Love Island villa have been revealed, and the residence of the 'sexy singles' has had a serious upgrade on the usual show. With a huge villa and a number of separated areas to 'go have a chat', it seems like the dynamics of this season are going to be very different. Oh, and did we mention the new trailer is out? Yes, it's all very exciting this morning.
The Winter Love Island trailer
Dropping this morning, the trailer did little to shake what we typically know and love on the show. Young, thin, conventionally attractive people all dancing in a villa waiting for Caroline Flack to pick them from a line up and introduce them into influencer fame cough sorry, love.
The Winter Love Island villa
But the villa pictures, that's where it gets really interesting. According to the Daily Mail, who nabbed aerial shots of the villa - which is in South Africa as oppose to you average Spain - the Winter Love Island house looks to be double the size of our typical Mallorca one.
Not only is the house bigger, but the pool, fire pit, day beds, outdoor seating and roof terrace are all separated due to the sheer size of the property. What does this mean for the show? Well, it will certainly change up the dynamics of the group.
Because, we're used to seeing conversations overheard on the roof terrace, flirtations clocked from the firepit and groups gathering on the day beds for a bitch. Now, it seems the group won't be in as close quarters and will definitely be able to run off for some private bitching sessions if need be.
Essentially, this season we're a lot less likely to get an Anna Vakili storm hitting Jordan Hames as he brazenly chats up her mate five feet away from her. Nor will we get the girls death-staring new arrivals from the roof as the boys make dinner for them in the garden. Maybe, if we're lucky, we'll still bear witness to the TV gold that occurs when one of the boys tries to pull someone on the sly and is overheard, but just if we're lucky.
Either way, we can't wait to see what this season has in store - and we don't have to wait very long. It's been reported the show will hit our screens on the 8th of January. Goodbye, January blues.
What is Winer Love Island?
In case you missed the memo, we're being treated to not one, but two seasons of Love Island in 12 months, as Love Island producers gear up for a winter edition of the hit ITV show. While last year's contestants have barely adjusted to their new lives as celebrities, a brand new set of islanders are ready to enter the villa, are you ready?
When is Winter Love Island?
The show will start on 8th January 2020, according to source, who said;
'The new Winter Love Island will launch the second week of January.
Bosses are still deciding on the final date but it is thought to be January 8 – a week after staff arrive in South Africa. It has been decided that the show will run for six weeks instead of the usual eight.
The new cast of singletons fly out just days before the launch but bosses work with test Islanders to uncover the best spots in the villa to create drama.'
Where is Winter Love Island set?
The islanders will be getting off to sunny Cape Town this season, and while the location might be different, the show will still follow the same format, and be hosted by Caroline Flack.
Who Will Be In Winter Love Island 2020?
The first announced contestant on Love Island 2020 was supposedly Ellis Iyayi, a 20-year old fitness model from Loughborough.
With nearly 10,000 instagram followers, he does fit right into the Love Island formula – and while fans may have begged for this season to have people other than just models in it, producers are likely following the same formula as last year in choosing micro-influencers. In case you forgot, they came up with the master plan after the show was accused of worsening contestants mental health, assuming that micro-influencers are better prepared for the ensuing fame.
However, reports have been too quick to assume he's a sure-fire selection, it seems – as Ellis himself has rubbished the rumour on Instagram. 'Whoever sold this fake report hope you've made your money,' he wrote next to a picture of the articles about him.
It did seem suspect reading his supposed friend's quote about the experience. 'Ellis is over the moon about it - he's had to be sworn to secrecy about it but he's been in to meet producers a few times and they love him - he can't wait to get in the villa,' read the quote on The Sun.
One would assume that being sworn to secrecy would surely mean not letting your friends talk to the press about your impending arrival into the villa. Especially as we know that decisions about who and when you will arrive as a contestant are often switched and made last minute by the show.
For Ellis, this is the perfect way to gain some Love Island fame without having to actually appear on the show - and given that he has gained over 2,000 followers since the story broke it is a proven tactic. Whether or not he knew the story was being sold is another question.
But what we should be asking is why everyone is so obsessed with finding out who the Love Island contestants are as early as possible. Seemingly, it's to stalk their social media and judge them before they actually appear on our screens. Which, if the character arcs of previous contestants have proven anything, it's that making pre-judgements about contestants is a one way ticket to clowntown.
Well, at least we have all the drama from last years seasons still ticking over to keep us occupied until the ominous 'early 2020' date.
