Love Island winners Gabby Allen and Casey O’Gorman have announced their split, three months after winning the All-Stars version of the reality show. The former couple say they are ‘on good terms’ and will remain friends.
Allen and O’Gorman’s break up comes as a shock to fans after the couple were posting loved up snaps earlier this week, with Allen captured on camera at the TV Bafta’s on Sunday saying they were ‘so happy and have such a great time together.’
The pair also only recently announced they were officially boyfriend and girlfriend, with O’Gorman telling Sophie Habboo and Melissa Tattam on their podcast, Wednesdays, that he asked Allen while out on a dog walk. They also went on their first holiday together last month, to Dubai.
Why did Gabby Allen and Casey O'Gorman break up?
Now, speculation is rife about why the couple split so suddenly after seemingly being in a good place. On Reddit, one fan claimed ‘Casey is a deeply unserious man, and they were always giving situationship anyway lol’ while another said ‘Casey is definitely not ready to be a boyfriend. He is ready for a hot boy summer, lol.’
Oh Redditors, you can always count on them to add some thinly veiled misogyny into their commentary, assuming the man was the driving force in the break-up of course.
In actual fact, the real reason for Allen and O’Gorman’s split – from their own mouths – is that they came to a mutual decision it wasn’t working out romantically and want to focus on individual growth right now.
Releasing a joint statement to the MailOnline, their representatives explained: ‘After much thoughtful consideration, Gabby and Casey have decided to go their separate ways romantically,’ the statement read. ‘This decision was mutual, and they both remain on good terms as friends with a shared respect for each other.’
A representative for Allen later added, ‘Gabby is grateful for the memories they’ve created together and wishes Casey nothing but the best as they both move forward on their individual journeys. She’s excited for what the future holds.’
O’Gorman did reveal on the Wednesday’s podcast that he needed to ‘get better’ at giving Allen compliments, although there was no suggestion that this could’ve led to a relationship breakdown.
Well, at least they came away £50k richer, right – we’d take that with our holiday romance anytime…
