Let the weekend Netflix binge fest commence…
Gilmore Girls – 1 July
This is not a drill! Lauren Graham aka Lorelai Gilmore has just announced that we’ll be able to stream ALL SEVEN SEASONS ahead of the anticipated Gilmore Girls revival on Netflix in November. And for you GG newbies – you’re in for a treat. The ‘00s show revolutionised the family drama, with two strong female leads – a fast-talking mum and daughter duo – navigating love, heartbreak and scary new adventures. Forget Kylie Jenner, Rory Gilmore is the ultimate teen icon.
The Fault In Our Stars – 13 July
If you’re in the need of a good ol’ fashioned tearjerker, this is right up there. The movie adaption of Josh Green’s best-selling book of the same name stays true to the novel, with a stellar lead (Ansel Egort, we love you) and supporting cast. If you’ve yet to watch this yet, er, you NEED to watch it. Just saying.
Stranger Things – 15 July
Excited about the Winona Ryder comeback? We’re with you. The ‘90s icon is back on our screens again, this time starring in new US drama/thriller series, set in 1980s Indiana. Fans of Twin Peaks will love this one.
Gavin & Stacey: Season 3 – 15 July
The ultimate TV rom-com. Who doesn’t love a bit of Gavin & Stacey on a lazy Sunday afternoon? And with James Cordon now a big hit in America, we doubt we’ll be seeing Smithy again any time soon, after the third and final series. Sob.
Before We Go – 21 July
If indie flicks are your thing, this romantic drama starring Star Trek actress Alice Eve and Chris Evans is perfect. Two strangers stuck in New York for the night explore the city together - but will they go back to their normal lives afterwards?
Labyrinth – 20 July
An ‘80s classic to celebrate the immortal genius of Bowie. This year marks 30 years since the cult fantasy film debuted in cinemas about a teenage girl (Jennifer Connelly) who wishes to stay young while journeying through a maze to recover her sibling from a goblin king (David Bowie). A surreal ride.
Tallulah – 29 July
You do not want to miss this directorial debut from the Orange Is The New Black writer Sian Heder, which reunites Juno actresses Ellen Page and Allison Janney. The touching tale about A New York drifter (Page) who rescues a baby from an irresponsible mother has already won rave reviews after screening at Sundance Festival this year.
