His time on Strictly Come Dancing was marred with controversy, and now it has been reported that Wynne Evans has been kicked off the current Strictly Live Tour following a comment that he made earlier this month.
On 16 January, Wynne, 53, was caught on camera during a photo shoot for the tour’s launch event suggesting a group sex session with presenter Janette Manrara and EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick. It is claimed that he used the derogatory term ‘spit roast’.
As a result of his comments, a spokesman for the Strictly Live Tour and BBC Studios said, ‘We were not previously aware of the remark and did not receive any complaints. We have made it very clear to Wynne that we do not tolerate such behaviour on the tour.’
However, since then Wynne Evans – although many people are seemingly calling him Wynne Jones online and are in turn searching on Google for 'What did Wynne Jones say' – released a statement which read, ‘I've agreed with the BBC that I'll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live Tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing.
‘I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection. Apologies to those I won't get to see at the remaining performances and I'm grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.’
Despite that, Wynne’s travel show which he hosts with Gavin and Stacey’s Joanna Page entitled Wynne and Joanna: All At Sea has continued to air – leading to complaints from fans.
And amidst all the drama over what Wynne said on the Strictly Live Tour and his subsequent axing, it has been reported that the opera singer has split from his girlfriend, events manager Liz Brookes. The pair began dating back in spring 2024 following the end of Wynne’s 16-year marriage.
A source has claimed, 'Although she loyally stood by him in public, Liz was humiliated by what happened when he was on Strictly. She always knew he was a bit old school, and actually liked the fact he seemed rough round the edges. She just assumed it was all part of his charm.
'It was very difficult for Liz, but she continued to back him throughout the rest of the contest, often being seen in the audience enthusiastically applauding him right up to him being knocked out in Blackpool week in November.
'It's not clear exactly when they split, but friends say that when his latest lewd gaffe was revealed at the Strictly Live Tour launch, she was relieved they were no longer together.’
