In the weirdest Rooneys news since the footballer and WAG turned up to Glastonbury via helicopter with a 12-strong entourage in tow, Wayne Rooney and Coleen Rooney have been hanging out with Donald and Melania Trump.

How did this happen? Well, the Rooney family now live in the States, Washington DC to be precise, making the move to accommodate Rooney’s twilight years in football as he plays for US team DC United.

And, well, considering they're in town and Donald Trump’s youngest son Barron Trump is a huge football fan, Wayne Rooney, and his entire family, were invited to the Trumps' official White House Christmas do as guests of honour.

Many US sports stars have refused to visit the White House while Trump’s in office, for obvious reasons. But the racism and xenophobia and misogyny and bigotry and tweeting like a three-year-old don’t really seem to bother old Rooney, who posed for a photo with Barron, President Trump and wife Melania Trump’s only child, and a couple of his mates. The image was shared by the White House’s official Instagram page along with the hashtag #TeamArlington, which refers to the Arlington Youth Football Academy, which is just over the river from the White House.

A source told The Mirror: ‘Barron is mad on football. Whenever he gets the chance, he is kicking a ball about. He loves DC United and Wayne is known to be one of his favourite players ever since he joined the club.’

According to other sources, the Rooneys had a tour of the White House, and though there are no photos of Colleen in attendance, she was there too, along with their four sons, Klay, Kai, Kit and Cass.

What has Wayne Rooney previously said about the presidency? Nothing, it seems, unless the following is about Donald J Trump? Unfortunately, because Wayne Rooney effectively predicting Trump's presidency would have been quite delicious, he was actually just referring to Judd Trump, a snooker player.
