We were all shocked at the beginning of the pandemic to learn that Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, and Idris Elba and his wife Sabrina, had contracted Covid-19, with the couples keeping fans updated with their recovery on social media. However, reports are now saying that David and Victoria Beckham might have also contracted the virus in LA before lockdown - with the pair instead choosing to keep their diagnosis private.
According to The Sun, the couple's relatives and staff members also came down with the bug following the launch of Becks' new football club Inter Miami (March 1) - with the Beckhams sending 'care packages' to those who were badly affected.
The paper continued, saying Victoria feared they may be 'super-spreaders' after flying back to the UK for son Brooklyn’s 21st birthday party (March 6) - and then flying back to America. It was only after they were back in the US that they reportedly started to fell ill, with tests then confirming their diagnosis.
'Several of their team including drivers, bodyguards and assistants fell ill — a couple of them very badly so,' a source told the paper. 'Victoria really panicked and made the whole family quarantine rigidly for more than two weeks. She was utterly petrified they might be super-spreaders, and did all she could to minimise all future risk.' (A spokesperson declined to comment to the paper.)
The Beckhams spent the rest of lockdown in their Cotswolds manor - and, following lockdown, had swab and antibody tests before holidaying in Greece and Italy to make sure they were OK to travel. As well as the couple showing their support for the NHS throughout the pandemic, Victoria also donated 25 percent of sales from her fashion label to help those in need of food banks.
