Donald Trump has said that Meghan Markle takes press coverage ‘personally’ and that she needs to ‘be a little bit different’. Trump, who is known for his rants against the ‘fake news media’, made the comments during an interview with Nigel Farage. He told LBC: 'Well I've been watching her interviews and I've seen it and she's taken it very personally, I guess you have to be a little bit different than that but she takes it very, very personally and I can understand it.'
The quote raised eyebrows as the president recently banned the New York Times and Washington Post from federal buildings due their coverage on his administration.
In the interview, Trump also discussed his controversial UK state visit in June. He called the Queen a ‘great woman’, adding that he doesn’t ‘say that often about anybody’. He said, ‘I sat next to her, and she was smiling and having a good time and I was smiling and having a good time. It was really a great evening, and I was told that she enjoyed it and I can tell you I enjoyed it.'
The president also called Prince Harry great. 'I met him when I was over,’ he said. ‘We had something that was so incredible recently. What that was five months ago, time flies. He's a great young man. The whole family is terrific, it's a great family.'
Giving his views on the current UK political climate, Trump used the interview to say Jeremy Corbyn would be 'so bad' for the UK while hailing Boris Johnson as 'the exact right guy for the times'.
