The TV Choice Awards took place in London last night, hailing Downton Abbey as Best Drama Series and Doctor Foster as Best New Drama. But it was The Night Manager that saw Tom Hiddleston steal the spotlight as Best Actor for his award-winning performance in the series as Jonathan Pine.
But Tom couldn’t attend the event as he was away in Australia filming Thor: Ragnarok (though we have a sneaky suspicion he’s still busy on his worldwide love tour with Taylor Swift).
So the 35 year-old had no choice but to film his acceptance speech from across the world. But it seems the actor has an unexpected squad of his own, as fellow castmates Idris Elba and Liam Hemsworth, effectively gate-crashed his moment.
Tom begins the acceptance speech with a quick apology to the audience as he says, ‘I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there tonight, I’m sure you all look lovely’. Quite the smooth talker, aye Taylor?
But before he could expand upon his apology, Chris Hemsworth barges into the shot grabbing the award from Tom's hands as he asks, ‘Oh is that for us? For Home And Away? For all of the work I did on the show…’ Before thanking Channel 7 for giving the Australian drama that launched his career the recognition it deserves. Because to quote Chris, 'Home And Away rocks'.
But Idris then swoops in and scoops up the award with a rather displeasing look upon his face as he says, ‘Oh man, that’s really awful’.
When discovering the trophy was given to the Night Manager, Idris chuckles and asks, ‘How come Luther didn’t get nominated?’ Oh, the shade.
Though Chris soon settles the debate as he notes that the award has three stars - one for each of them. Sweet.
And of course Idris couldn’t finish the video without a quick shout out to his mum, followed by a cheeky wink.
Idris for Bond, we think.
