Victoria Canal has shut down rumours that she is romantically involved with Tom Cruise, after reports claimed that the pair have been 'inseparable' since meeting at Glastonbury Festival.
Taking to her Instagram Story, the Spanish-American singer, 25, tagged Page Six and called the speculation surrounding her and Mission: Impossible megastar Tom 'insane'. 'I am not dating Tom Cruise,' she stated explicitly, adding, 'If you're gonna start a rumour, at least choose a better picture of me damn!' She also penned a lengthy Instagram grid response, writing in part, 'Guys, this is literally bonkers, but apparently the tabloids think I am dating Tom Cruise. I’m deceased. Let’s just stop this in its tracks - I’m sorry to bum you out but I am not dating the man, albeit a lovely person and artist. Lol never thought I would have to clarify that out loud in my life.'
Victoria is understood to have crossed paths with Tom, 62, in June, when she performed with Coldplay during the British band's headline set at Glastonbury. But according to a source, what started as friendship had developed into something romantic over the last few weeks, with Tom allegedly inviting Victoria to the set of Mission: Impossible 8 - a move that crew insiders supposedly branded 'bizarre'. The insider also weighed in on the pair's 35-year age gap, saying, 'It might have seemed unlikely that they would become anything more than friends but they are pretty much inseparable. They have been seeing a lot of one another and Victoria is beautiful. It's all been happening in plain sight.'
Less than two weeks after Tom's stint in the VIP area at Glastonbury, he flew Victoria and her brother Nick in a helicopter to the Twisters premiere in London - a gesture the swan song singer documented on Instagram. As well as a video capturing her and Tom walking through London's Chinatown, Victoria also shared a clip of the actor manoeuvring the helicopter, as well as a selfie with Nick and their famous pilot.
Then on 25 July, the pair enjoyed another outing in the capital, this time to watch Bruce Springsteen at Wembley Stadium. Victoria wrote alongside a picture of the Boss and Tom, 'Should promote my song (california sober) coming out at midnight but I'm too busy watching Bruce with the most random friend I've ever made ! xxxx'
And amid the widespread reports that the pair are more than friends, Victoria had plenty more to say on her Instagram Story. Sharing a screenshot of an article titled, 'Is Tom Cruise dating Spanish-American singer Victoria Canal?', she wrote, 'Huge perk: first time I'm Spanish-American singer Victoria Canal and not one-armed pianist whose name remains unmentioned!!!! There's always a win somewhere, thanks Tom.' (Victoria was born without her right forearm due to amniotic band syndrome.)
She added, 'In all seriousness guys, Tom has been nothing but a respectful and encouraging person and mentor, much like Chris Martin, my dad, my music teachers and other wise people that have learned a lot from living. And again, I am friends with all kinds of people who are very different to me. You learn a lot if you're open to life bringing you those teachers.'
Her response to the rumours garnered thousands of replies, with someone sarcastically writing, 'Of course you have you be dating him!!! Women can't be friends with men!!!'
